Truckee River Day and Festival: October 20
Join us for a fun day preserving the watershed.
Since 1996, 500 volunteers every year have worked on more than 200 projects on Truckee River Watershed Council’s Truckee River Day. So far they have restored 2179 acres of degraded meadows and forests and 58 miles of roads and streambanks .
Last year on Truckee River Day, we joined Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, North Tahoe High School Fly fishing club, California State Parks and U.S. Forest Service in installing #willowwattles on the eroded shorelines of Donner Memorial State Park’s lagoon and planted a dozen #jeffreypine trees.
There are a range of activities for all ages. And every participant gets a free shirt. RSVP: hcnnevada@gmail.com
We have been assigned to the BOCA UNIT project in collaboration with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. We will plant willow and spread native material at a recently completed floodplain restoration. This will be a great family activity. My 10 yo and 7 yo really enjoyed planting trees last year. Meet up with Leslie Hsu Oh.
