Bowers Mansion Tour
Join us for a tour of the historic Bowers Mansion in Washoe City, NV
Date: Friday, August 28, 2026
Time: 6:00 p.m. PT Tour, Optional picnic prior to tour
Take a tour into Nevada's Comstock and literary history. Built by millionaires Eilley and Sandy Bowers, the Bowers Mansion has been a much loved venue for picnics, musical, and other social events for more than a century. The first public performance of "Home Means Nevada" occurred on the balcony of the Mansion nearly one hundred years ago. The mansion also served as the setting for a romantic chapter of Nevada author Walter Van Tilburg Clark's semi-autobiographical book, The City of Trembling Leaves.
You are invited to a special tour of the historic Bowers Mansion on Friday, August 28 at 6:00 p.m. We will receive a tour of the home given by Tami Buzick, the author of a recently published history of the mansion: Bowers Mansion: The Legacy of a Comstock Family. The tour will follow the action in Walter Van Tilburg Clark's book.
Come early with a picnic dinner and enjoy the beautiful grounds and views of Washoe Lake. The cost is $12 per adult, $8 per senior (62+) or child (<18). The event is limited to 20 persons, so you must sign up in advance. No food or beverages will be provided by the Harvard Club, but you are encouraged to bring your own.
