Mount Judah Loop Trail Hike
Join us for an intermediate, 3-4 hour hike in Tahoe.
DISTANCE: 5.5 Miles
ELEVATION CHANGE: 1,300’ up to the peak of 8,200 feet
DIFFICULTY: Intermediate, 3-4 hours.
The Judah Loop near Donner Pass and Sugar Bowl Resort is a panoramic breathtaking view of the Sierra Nevada Crest. We will hike along the Pacific Crest Trail near Lake Mary for about 2 miles, onto Roller Pass, then Mount Judah, and Donner Peak in a counterclockwise loop before descending. Some sections are rocky and steep. Hiking poles are recommended. We are offering a low-elevation alternative on July 16th: the paved East Shore Trail in Incline Village. Parking gets very crowded during the summer at this location, so we will move the start time to 8:30am to make parking easier. The earlier start should help with the high temperatures (90 degrees) we anticipate for this weekend as well.
After hiking we will have lunch (purchase your own) at Old 40 Bar and Grill of Donner Ski Ranch, famous for offering free 40 oz beer to Pacific Crest Trail thru-hikers who show their long distance permit.
Please RSVP to hcnnevada@gmail.com to let us know you plan to join the hike.
